Mr Chavez: here's a list of political prisoners in Venezuela

London 15 Mar. 04 - Yesterday's “Alo Presidente” came about with the usual script of lies. In it Hugo Chavez denied emphatically the existence of political prisoners in Venezuela. Well Mr Chavez, just in case you have not been informed by your minions here's a list of people that are, as of today, arrested in the country which you say you are the leader. Their crimes are to have gone out to the street to protest against you. The uncle of my wife, to name but one of the hundreds, continues captive, at El Helicoide, in waiting for a sentence that could send him to El Rodeo. I will not go into the legalese with you for that is obviously a topic that your 'revolutionary brain' can not comprehend. Go on Mr Chavez, make a couple of phone calls and find out if I am telling the truth or not, only then will those who watch you from afar be able to swallow your conniving attitude. You could also explain to us why you have kept General Carlos Alfonso Martínez arrested in Fuerte Tiuna since December 30 2002 or why Elsy de Peña, Wilfrido Tovar, Jacobo Supelano, William Forero, Orlando Pantaleón, Saúl Lozano, Jorge Hinojosa, Omar Guillen and José Neira Celis have not been freed since June 4 2002.
