Breaking News: Floods in Venezuela

London 08.02.05 | Local sources report heavy rains and floods in various parts of north Venezuela. From la Guaira to Chichiriviche de la Costa families have been trapped owing to landslides. Only emergency flights are permitted to operate from the international airport of Maiquetia.
The situation in Caracas' Hogar El Bambi (which is a shelter for abandoned children located in Antimano), is quite desperate; sewage waters have flooded the shelter and the children are trying to stay in higher ground. Calls for help have been made to firemen to no avail.
The Guaire river is close to overflow in La California sector also in Caracas.
