Funding wanted for Venezuelan documentary
By Aleksander Boyd
London 15.01.06 | Readers of this site may be aware of the lack of truthful documentary accounts, in English, about what goes on in Venezuela. The ones produced to date invariably present one biased views of either of the political sides, whilst demonizing the other. To be frank I am sick of it. As one of the characters in Michael Crichton's "State of Fear" [p. 550] said: "I have a problem, with other people deciding what is in my best interest when they don't live where I do, when they don't know the local conditions or the local problems I face, when they don't even live in the same country as I do, but they still feel -in some far-off Western city, at a desk in some glass skyscrapper in Brussels or Berlin or New York- that they know the solution to all my problems and how I should live my life. I have a problem with that."
I too have a problem with self-described non-Venezuelan pundits pretending to lecture me about my own country and for that reason I would like to make a public appeal for funding, which shall be used towards filming my countrymen, regardless of political tendencies, and allowing them to speak their truth.
